A dirt road runs between rows of bearing date palms, their trunks heavy with hanging clusters of ripening fruit, with low flowering shrubs and a white fence and shed at the right against hazy hills. Date palms were introduced to California's desert valleys in the early twentieth century, and by the 1920s the Coachella and Imperial Valleys had become a commercial date-growing region. The card presents the grove as a scenic attraction as much as an agricultural one.
Linen-textured stock with a cream border; printed card number 845 at upper left.
No postmark; divided back with printed date-palm ad copy; linen texture; white border; light wear.
