Rows of small wooden rocking chairs and chairs fill the day nursery at the Waltham Watch Factory, with a central wooden playpen, tables, and a radiator under a sloped ceiling and large windows. The caption places the room in Waltham, Massachusetts, where the Waltham Watch Company was a major employer. A company day nursery was an early form of employee welfare, giving working parents a supervised place for their children while they worked.
White border; printed halftone; series number (16) at lower left.
No postmark, stamp, or handwriting present. Undivided back with 'FOR CORRESPONDENCE ONLY' / 'FOR ADDRESS ONLY' and a single stamp box; floral Art Nouveau design. Front shows a white-bordered tinted halftone of a day nursery interior.
