About this postcard

A distant view of Deer Isle Village, Maine, with scattered white and red-roofed houses spread across a wooded hillside above a small cove or inlet, seen over a foreground meadow and dark tree line. Deer Isle is a large island community in Penobscot Bay, and its village grew around fishing, granite quarrying, and the summer resort trade that brought visitors to the Maine coast in the early 1900s.
