Desert landscape with saguaro cactus and ocotillo, Arizona, circa 1940

Card type
Linen

About this postcard

A desert scene in Arizona showing a tall saguaro cactus at left, several smaller saguaros, and clumps of ocotillo with bright red flower spikes, set among low green and blue-gray desert shrubs with rocky, purplish hills under a streaked blue and yellow sky. The saguaro (Carnegiea gigantea) and ocotillo (Fouquieria splendens) are signature plants of the Sonoran Desert of southern Arizona, where spring blooms of the ocotillo are a well-known sight. The card is a typical mid-century linen-textured view of the state's desert scenery.
