About this postcard

A broad lawn and a curving walk lead toward the red-brick, white-trimmed buildings of DeVilbiss High School in Toledo, Ohio. A clock tower rises above the central entrance, a dome shows on the wing at left, and trees frame the foreground. The school opened in 1931, named for Dr. Allen DeVilbiss, the Toledo physician and inventor of the atomizer whose family endowed the site. Its Georgian Revival symmetry, with balanced wings and a cupola, was typical of the large public high schools the city raised during its early-20th-century growth.
