About this postcard

A long, low causeway bridge with a single steel truss span crosses the Bay of Biloxi between Biloxi and Ocean Springs, Mississippi. The view looks across the water from a landscaped shore, with a palm tree, shrubs, and a street lamp in the foreground. The span is the D'Iberville Memorial Bridge, the Highway 90 crossing on the Old Spanish Trail. It carried coastal traffic on a low trestle-style structure before a high-rise bridge replaced it in the 1960s. The name honors Pierre Le Moyne d'Iberville, the French explorer who established Fort Maurepas on the Mississippi coast in 1699.
