About this postcard

The view shows the Dixie Motor Court and Restaurant in Starke, Florida: a long, low white building with a green roof and red trim, a two-story section with arched windows, and a large tree shading the front. The highway in the foreground places the business directly on its advertised route, U.S. 301 at Florida 200. Motor courts of this kind combined lodging and meals for auto travelers, a form that spread with tourist traffic in Florida. Starke, in north-central Florida, sat on a north-south route, so the court served through travelers as well as local customers.
