About this postcard
A long, low open-sided mill building with a broad gabled roof stands at the edge of a wood, its yard filled with great stacks of sawn planks at left and long raw logs heaped in the foreground. The printed caption names it Dodge's Mill in Rowley, Massachusetts, a small Essex County town whose early economy rested on agriculture, timber and the saw and grist mills along its streams. Halftone reproduction of a photograph, typical of small-town view cards of the first two decades of the twentieth century.
