About this postcard
A corner view of the eight-story brick Dollar Savings Bank building in downtown Youngstown, Ohio, its ground floor pierced by tall arched openings and its upper stories filled with regular rows of rectangular windows; the bank's name is lettered across the second-floor windows, and a small sign for "Ames' Lunch" appears at the left edge. Youngstown, in the Mahoning Valley of northeastern Ohio, was by this era one of the country's leading steel centers, and its downtown filled with substantial commercial blocks of this type. The tinted, slightly hand-colored look is characteristic of inexpensive German- and American-printed view cards of the 1900s–1910s.
