About this postcard
Douglas Lodge, a log resort building with a green roof and stone chimney, stands among tall pines in Itasca State Park. A group of visitors, some in red coats, stand on the walkway in front of the lodge, and a paved road curves through the foreground. The caption calls it "Minnesota's own resort, in the heart of Itasca State Park." Itasca is Minnesota's oldest state park, established in 1891 around the headwaters of the Mississippi River. Douglas Lodge was built in the early 1900s as park lodging and had welcomed visitors for decades by the 1950s.
