About this postcard

Dover Dam, a concrete gravity dam on the Tuscarawas River, sends water over a stepped spillway; a gatehouse and arched parapet stand at the left abutment, with wooded hills and red clay banks behind. The caption places the dam between Canton, Dover, and New Philadelphia in the Tuscarawas Valley south of Canton. Built in the 1930s, Dover Dam is part of the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District's flood-control system, a network of dams and reservoirs in eastern Ohio.
