About this postcard

A bird's-eye view of a downtown St. Petersburg corner, dominated by a tall white tower-topped commercial building with blue awnings at street level, with the red-brick Princess Martha Hotel at right and a Kress 5-10-25 store and Walgreen sign along the block. The caption names the city "The Sunshine City," a booster slogan St. Petersburg adopted in the 1920s as it became a winter resort destination. The Princess Martha, opened in 1924, was one of the city's grand resort hotels of the Florida land-boom era.
