Dream Girl's Porch, Limberlost State Memorial, Geneva, IN, circa 1947

About this postcard

A rustic wooden porch or gazebo with a shingled pyramidal roof and steps stands among dense trees at Limberlost State Memorial. The rough timber structure fits the rustic style common in public parks and memorial grounds. The memorial preserves the Geneva, Indiana, home and grounds of Gene Stratton-Porter, the naturalist and novelist whose books about the Limberlost Swamp brought the region national attention. Her novel A Girl of the Limberlost, published in 1909, made the name familiar to readers far beyond Indiana.
