About this postcard

A broad, pale driveway curves through the lawns and mature shade trees of Franklin Park, with an open touring automobile carrying two people toward the viewer and a long, glass-roofed conservatory building on the rise behind. Franklin Park, laid out in the 1850s east of downtown Columbus, was long the city's principal pleasure ground, and the conservatory visible in the distance is the Franklin Park Conservatory, a glasshouse in the tradition of the great Victorian palm houses. The scene captures the early motoring era, when automobiles began sharing park drives with carriages.

Dear Clara - I have been wondering how Somerset is getting along, don't hear much from there this year. We are getting along fine and like it all right. - I am quite busy. Remember me to the girls. Has Bertha gotten well enough to teach yet. Lovingly, Ella
