About this postcard

A view down Duke of Gloucester Street in Williamsburg, Virginia, where low brick colonial-revival shop buildings with multi-pane windows and white trim line a wide street shaded by large trees; a yellow automobile and a lighter car are parked at the right. Duke of Gloucester Street is the main thoroughfare of the restored colonial capital, running between the College of William & Mary and the Capitol, and was reconstructed in the 1930s under the Rockefeller-funded restoration. The cars and the linen-textured card stock date this view to roughly the late 1930s or 1940s.
