About this postcard

An elevated view of the Dutch Village concession at Chicago's world's fair, with a cluster of steep red-tiled roofs, gabled yellow and blue buildings, a windmill, and a tall tower set beside a lake, with crowds filling the walkways. The caption names it the Dutch Village, a popular foreign-village attraction of the 1933–34 Century of Progress International Exposition on Chicago's lakefront. Such concession villages offered fairgoers food, entertainment, and a stylized version of European life.
