Eagle Point High Bridge over the Mississippi River, Dubuque, Iowa, circa 1905

About this postcard

The card's own caption names the scene "Eagle Point High Bridge" at Dubuque, Iowa: a long iron truss bridge spanning the Mississippi River, viewed from the Iowa shore with a tree-lined levee road and horse-drawn wagons in the foreground. Eagle Point is the bluff and park district on Dubuque's north side, and the high bridge carried traffic across the river in the early twentieth century. The ornate brown-printed frame and "Souvenir Card from Dubuque, Iowa" lettering are typical of small-town view cards issued around 1900–1910.
