Easter greeting card with cross, sunset and forget-me-nots, circa 1910

About this postcard

A brown-ground Easter greeting shows a large white Latin cross outlined in gold, its interior filled with a printed sunset over a lake with small dark buildings and bare trees on the far shore. Sprays of blue forget-me-nots with pink buds and green leaves twine around the cross, and the greeting "A CHEERFUL EASTER" is printed in white at the top. Forget-me-nots and the cross were standard Easter iconography on early twentieth-century greeting postcards, the flowers signifying remembrance and the cross the Resurrection.
