About this postcard

A view across Echo Lake toward Mount Evans, with timbered shores and a snow-streaked summit ridge rising beyond. The lake sits at about 10,600 feet in a timbered valley on the Mount Evans Road in the Denver Mountain Parks, roughly 50 miles west of Denver in Clear Creek County. The caption notes the chain of peaks leading up to Mount Evans at 14,260 feet and the camping spots along the shore. The Denver Mountain Parks were developed in the early 20th century as a high-country recreation reserve for the city. By the 1930s, Echo Lake was a stop on the road up Mount Evans, where visitors could take in the lake and the snow-clad peaks.
