Echo Lake looking toward Mount Evans, Denver Mountain Parks, Colorado, circa 1940

About this postcard

A view across the still water of Echo Lake, ringed by dense conifer forest, with the snow-streaked summit ridge of Mount Evans rising beyond; the card's own caption identifies the spot as Echo Lake at 10,600 feet in the Denver Mountain Parks system. Echo Lake sits at the foot of the Mount Evans road in Clear Creek County, west of Denver, and the Denver Mountain Parks were developed in the early 20th century as a high-country recreation reserve for the city. The linen-textured, white-bordered format places the printing in the late 1930s to 1940s.
