The photograph shows Egg Rock Light, a small lighthouse with keeper's quarters and outbuildings, perched atop a low rocky island in open water off the shore of Lynn, Massachusetts. Egg Rock Light was established in Nahant Bay in the mid-1850s to guide vessels into Lynn Harbor, and the station was discontinued in the early 1920s; the rocky island is today a bird sanctuary. The card's own caption names the view simply as "Egg Rock Light off Lynn Shore."
