About this postcard

A halftone view of Elizabeth Mead Hall, a large brick dormitory with a steep gabled roof, tall chimneys and rows of sash windows, at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts. Mount Holyoke, founded in 1837 by Mary Lyon, is the oldest continuing institution of higher education for women in the United States, and its dormitories were central to its residential seminary model. The writer notes that this is the second-largest of the college's dormitories, of which there were seven at the time.

Dec. 2, 1905 Dear Charlotte, Haven't I been a long time writ- ing you this postal? I think that my true home must have brought me to my senses. This is the next to the largest of our dormitories. We have room and need more, as a number of the freshmen are not on the campus. Angie Crawford Heartz.
