Embossed fruit compote Easter greeting, Walton, NY, circa 1910

Card type
Novelty

About this postcard

A deeply die-pressed relief still life shows a footed gold-and-blue compote dish heaped with peaches and plums, with grape leaves arching above and clusters of dark blue grapes and additional peaches and leaves arranged around the base. The fruit and foliage are raised in high relief against a silver-textured hexagonal panel, with gold and pink accents typical of German-made embossed novelties of the early 20th century. No caption or greeting is printed; the sender used it as an Easter greeting and asked the recipient to write more often.
