A shallow creek ripples over a rocky bed between grassy banks, with a dense stand of trees filling the background and fallen logs lying along the water's edge. The printed caption names it Emerian Creek at Comins, Michigan.
Comins is a small community in Oscoda County, in the northern Lower Peninsula, an area logged heavily in the late nineteenth century and afterward left as cutover land and scattered farms. Quiet streams like this one were common scenery on real-photo cards of the 1910s and 1920s.
Black-and-white real photo postcard; no white border; printed caption in white. 'C-2' at lower left.
No postmark. Divided-back AZO real-photo card, AZO stamp box with triangles up (c. 1918-1930). Dealer pencil marks "313" and "$2" on the address side; no handwritten address or message. Light foxing/toning on card stock.
