The Empire State Building stands illuminated at night, its upper floors and mast rising above the surrounding Manhattan skyline. The 102-story Art Deco tower at Fifth Avenue and 34th Street rises 1,250 feet, with public observatories on the 86th and 102nd floors. Completed in 1931, it was the world's tallest building for decades and a symbol of New York.
