The Emrichsville Bridge spans the White River at Indianapolis, shown here as a monumental concrete arch structure with heavy stone piers, carved cartouches, balustraded railings, lamp posts and squat tower-like pylons at the approaches. The card's own caption names it simply as the Emrichsville Bridge, Indianapolis, Ind. The crossing carried West Washington Street over the White River and was noted for its Beaux-Arts detailing, typical of early twentieth-century civic bridge building in the Midwest.
Linen-textured stock with visible crosshatch grain; narrow white border; card number 5 printed before the caption.
No postmark. Divided-back private postcard with cream textured stock; handwritten "3.00" (dealer price) in the stamp box, no message or address. Light foxing/soiling on the back; front is a linen-texture view with no white border.
