About this postcard
A guided party, several on horseback, files across the snowfield and into the mouth of an ice cave in Paradise Glacier. The caption describes walls of crystal clear ice, with daylight filtering through in blue and green. Paradise Glacier, on the south slope of Mount Rainier, was a popular guided excursion from Paradise Inn in the early twentieth century, when ice caves formed at the glacier's terminus. The glacier has retreated substantially since, and the caves shown here no longer exist in this form.
