About this postcard

The view shows the arched entrance to El Mirasol, Edward T. Stotesbury's winter estate in Palm Beach. Palm trees frame the drive, and a car is visible near the gate. Stotesbury, a Philadelphia financier and J.P. Morgan partner, maintained one of the grand Mediterranean-style houses that made Palm Beach a winter capital for wealthy Northeastern families in the 1910s and 1920s. The gate and palm-lined approach gave the estate a formal arrival suited to the seasonal colony.
