About this postcard
A view of the Essex County Court House in Newark, New Jersey, a large Neoclassical building with a columned portico, pediment and an American flag flying from the roof, seen across a landscaped plaza with patterned walks and a small monument in the foreground. The present Essex County Court House, part of a civic complex around Market Street, was built in the early 20th century and remains in use as a courthouse. The linen-textured card with its numbered caption is typical of the mid-20th-century 'linen' era of American postcards.
