A broad, curving residential street in Euclid Heights, the hilltop district east of Cleveland, lined with mature shade trees and large houses set back behind lawns. A horse-drawn carriage with several passengers waits at the left, and a tall brick house with chimneys rises through the trees. Euclid Heights was developed in the 1890s as a streetcar suburb, with landscaped streets and substantial homes meant to feel park-like. In the early 1900s, carriages still shared these roads with the first automobiles.
