About this postcard

A broad, curving residential street in Cleveland's Euclid Heights neighborhood, lined with mature shade trees and large period houses; a horse-drawn carriage with several passengers stands at the left, and a tall chimneyed brick house rises behind the trees. Euclid Heights was developed from the 1890s as one of Cleveland's premier streetcar suburbs on the ridge east of the city, noted for its landscaped boulevards and substantial homes. The view captures the quiet, park-like character of the district in the early automobile era, when carriages still shared the road.
