Falls near Moody Street, Waltham, Mass., 1908

About this postcard

The view shows a dam and waterfall on the river near Moody Street in Waltham, with mill buildings and a tower on the far bank. A large bare tree frames the left side, and utility poles and bare trees line the opposite shore under a blank sky. The bare branches suggest late fall or winter. Waltham was a manufacturing center in the early 1900s, and the falls along the river supplied water power for mills and factories. The mill buildings in the distance reflect that industrial riverfront, where the city's factories clustered near the water.

Isn't it a relief to have it cooler? Our office has been very comfort- able, but it was very hot going back and forth. Work is O.K. Love to all from Lois.
