A Black family — a woman and three children, one standing in the doorway in a red jacket — pose on a rough plank bench before a crude cabin built of unhewn pine logs with a shake-shingle roof and a stick-and-clay chimney. The card's own caption calls it an "Old Time Pine Log Hut" at Macon, Georgia, presented as a relic of earlier Southern backwoods life. Such cabins, with dovetailed log corners and board-and-batten doors, were the common rural dwelling of the antebellum and postbellum South.
White border along bottom edge with printed caption; handwritten inscription in ink on the front lower right; slight corner and edge wear.
Postmark: MACON GA NOV 26 1906 11-AM 4.30A. Undivided back with "address only" notice; Tuck litho printed in Germany; light wear and toning at edges.
