About this postcard
A black-and-white photograph of five people pausing from hoeing in a leafy row-crop field: two men in work clothes and hats at the left, a small boy in overalls and a straw hat in the center, and two women in light-colored dresses and wide-brimmed sun hats at the right, each holding a long-handled hoe. A line of scattered trees and open farmland fills the horizon behind them. The scene is typical of the hand-cultivated family and farm-labor work common in the early 20th century, when horse- and hand-powered tillage still dominated row crops.
