About this postcard

The view shows the Federal Reserve Building on Constitution Avenue, a long white marble block with a central portico and an American flag flying above it. Lawns, hedges, and a circular drive fill the foreground. Completed in 1937, the year before this card was printed, the building was designed by Paul Philippe Cret for the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. Its stripped classical facade is clad in Georgia white marble, and the site between 20th and 21st streets placed the new central bank among the government buildings along Constitution Avenue.
