About this postcard

A young man in a white jacket stands on a sunlit walk tossing grain to a flock of pigeons, with a large arched Spanish Colonial doorway and flowering shrubs behind him. The caption names the scene as the Plaza in Balboa Park, San Diego, the park laid out for the 1915 Panama-California Exposition and rebuilt for the 1935 California Pacific International Exposition, whose Spanish Colonial Revival buildings line the plaza. Feeding pigeons in the park's plazas and gardens was a popular pastime for visitors and a frequent postcard subject.
