About this postcard

A tinted street view looking east along Felix Street in St. Joseph, Missouri, with the Block's clothing store on the left under a large projecting sign and awnings, the Plymouth Clothing Co. on the corner beyond, and a horse-drawn carriage with a striped awning in the roadway among pedestrians. St. Joseph was a major Missouri River trading and outfitting town, and by the early 20th century its downtown blocks along Felix Street held dry goods, clothing and shoe merchants of this kind. The scene captures the commercial streetscape of the period, with shop windows, sidewalk crowds and horse-drawn traffic.
