About this postcard

Across a broad, nearly empty plaza, the Field Museum of Natural History shows a long neoclassical facade in Georgia white marble. A continuous Ionic colonnade runs the length of the building, and a few small figures on the walk give a sense of its monumental scale. The museum had moved from its Jackson Park quarters into this new Lake Shore Drive building in 1921, placing the collection in a civic landmark at Roosevelt Road and Lake Michigan.
