About this postcard
A street-level view of the First Baptist Church of Jackson, Mississippi, a large Gothic Revival complex of light stone or stucco with a tall crenellated tower, steep slate roofs, pointed-arch windows and an arched entry porch, with a young tree and lawn in front. The congregation, organized in the early 19th century, built this imposing sanctuary in the 1920s–1930s in a Gothic style suited to a prominent downtown church. The linen-textured, brightly tinted rendering is typical of mid-century American view cards.
