Black-and-white view of a brick Gothic Revival church with a stone-trimmed entry porch and tall pointed-arch windows, shaded by a large tree. A small truck sits at the left edge of the frame beside a neighboring frame house.
Red Oak, in southwest Iowa, grew up as a railroad town and is the seat of Montgomery County. The pointed-arch windows and stone trim follow the Gothic Revival vocabulary that Protestant congregations across the Midwest favored for churches raised in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
