The photograph shows a small white frame chapel with a pedimented portico carried on square columns, set on a grassy lot behind bare winter trees. The plain classical-revival building served Springfield's First Church of Christ, Scientist, a branch congregation typical of the denomination's early years, when local groups often built modest chapels before larger churches followed. The card was sent on Christmas Day 1906, a holiday greeting from a city that traced its settlement to 1636.
White border with a black rule framing the halftone image; undivided-back era stock. Handwritten inscription in blue ink in the right margin (rotated): "Merry Christmas", the date "12-25-06", and the name "Mrs. K. V. Hacker". Addressed on the reverse to Mrs James Hassett, Amesbury, Mass., with return address "℅ Hassett & Hodge".
Postmark: SPRINGFIELD, MA. DEC 25 (year not legible). Undivided back souvenir card with decorative seal and "This side for the address only"; 1¢ green Franklin stamp (Series 1902); light edge/corner wear.
