Pink flamingos stand on and around their mounded mud nests on a small island, with white waterfowl and a pale chick in the foreground and a pond and grassy bank behind. The caption names the scene as the flamingo colony at Hialeah Park in Miami. Hialeah Park race track, opened in 1925, was famous for the large flock of flamingos kept on its infield lake, a spectacle that became a symbol of the resort-era Miami area.
