Fletcher Lake shoreline, Ocean Grove, NJ, 1905

About this postcard

A view across Fletscher Lake (likely Fletcher Lake) toward the Ocean Grove shore, where a long row of wooden Victorian cottages, pavilions, and a small red-roofed boat landing line the water. A single rowboat carrying several figures is out on the lake. Ocean Grove was founded in 1869 as a Methodist camp-meeting resort on the New Jersey coast, and its dense rows of wooden cottages and tabernacle grounds became a familiar Victorian seaside landscape.
