A large floral clock set into a grassy bank, its Roman-numeral dial framed by plantings and a star motif with the words WATER POWER spelled out in plants above the dial, is the focus of this view in Water Works Park. The park covered 72 acres on Jefferson Avenue, partly occupied by Detroit's water works pumping station, and the caption notes that water reached the city through a long tunnel from Lake St. Clair. The landscaped grounds were promoted as one of Detroit's beauty spots, with the floral clock and an entrance memorial as attractions.
