About this postcard
Winding flower beds and a red-roofed gazebo cover the rugged bluff of Heisler Park, with the Pacific Ocean and a strip of beach visible at left. At right, the Victor Hugo Inn stands behind the garden, its red tile roof and blue awning picking it out from the greenery. The card calls the gardens 'one of the show places of Laguna Beach' and notes the park's view over the city and the beach crowds below. By the 1930s, Laguna Beach was known as an artists' colony and a beach resort, and Heisler Park's cliffside gardens were a scenic stop along the coast.
