Floral greeting, garden gate and chickens, Cleveland, OH, 1920

Card type
Lithograph

About this postcard

The card shows pink roses in the foreground, a picket gate and fence, two white chickens, and a blossoming tree. Below the printed greeting 'Dear Friend' is a verse wishing the recipient days 'free from strife' and 'the goodly things of Life.' Barbara's message to Beatrice is more direct: she wishes she could see her, cannot until they go to the fair, and says that she and her mother will come. She adds, 'I wish if you could live up there again with me.' The formal floral greeting and the plain personal note sit together easily, the kind of quick message that postcards carried between friends and family in 1920.
