About this postcard

A view across a manicured lawn in Crapo Park, where a long oval bed of red canna-like flowers edged with white and pink plantings sits before a backdrop of tall shade trees; smaller beds of pink and blue flowers dot the grass in the foreground. Crapo Park was laid out in the 1890s on bluffs above the Mississippi River in Burlington, Iowa, and was named for Massachusetts senator and philanthropist Henry H. Crapo, whose family funded the land and its early improvements. The card's linen-textured stock and Curt Teich-style number date it to the late 1930s.
