A small spray of pale blue and white blossoms with slender green leaves is tied with a long blue ribbon against a plain tan-gold ground. The note on the card asks a schoolteacher in Edmeston, New York, whether she enjoys teaching school as well as she did "last winter school ma'am." The teasing tone fits the ordinary correspondence of the period, when postcards carried quick news and small talk between friends and neighbors. Teaching was one of the few professional roles open to women in rural communities at the time.
