About this postcard
Two aerial views: the upper panel shows the Ford Motor Company's River Rouge complex at Dearborn, Michigan, with rows of long manufacturing buildings, smokestacks, and the Rouge River; the lower panel shows the Lincoln Motor Company plant in Detroit, a long white multi-story factory block with a single tall smokestack. The printed caption calls Ford "the greatest of Detroit's giant automobile industries" and lists the Highland Park, River Rouge, and Dearborn plants along with the Lincoln Motor Car Division in Detroit, noting that about 75,000 men were employed at River Rouge. The Rouge was an integrated works where raw materials were processed and assembled into finished cars. Ford bought Lincoln in 1922 and built Lincoln cars at the Detroit plant.
