About this postcard
Two aerial views on one card: the upper panel shows the sprawling Ford Motor Company River Rouge complex at Dearborn, Michigan, with its rows of long manufacturing buildings, smokestacks and the Rouge River; the lower panel shows the Lincoln Motor Company plant in Detroit, a long white multi-story factory block with a single tall smokestack. The River Rouge plant, begun around 1917, became the world's largest integrated automobile factory, where raw materials were processed and assembled into finished cars. Ford purchased the Lincoln Motor Company, founded by Henry Leland in 1917, in 1922 and built Lincoln cars at this Detroit works.
